PreseliStones - Where Artistry Meets Craft

At PreseliStones, we embrace a unique blend of traditional and self-taught stone carving techniques. Our passion for stone is reflected in every piece we create, capturing the beauty of nature while telling a story.  On a journey of continuously developing and exploring techniques and skills. Bringing to life others ideas and inspirations is very profound to me and would love to hear any idea's you may have.

Carving Process

The union of artistry and craftsmanship begins long before the first strike of the chisel. It starts with a mindful selection of stone—considering its colour, character, and unique natural features, while carefully assessing any internal or external fractures that may influence its journey.

From there, each piece is thoughtfully envisioned, with proportions and details meticulously planned before the carving begins. This stage demands both physical strength and unwavering precision, as the hidden form is gradually revealed from within the stone. My approach is to honour the material by preserving as much of its natural essence as possible, allowing its inherent beauty to guide the creative process.

Every monument is more than a sculpture; it is a journey of connection, discovery, and reverence for the earth beneath our feet. Through patience, perseverance, and continual refinement, a vision slowly emerges into tangible form. The process invites deep focus and presence, where intuition and skill merge in a state of creative flow.

Stone carving presents many challenges. It calls for extraordinary patience, discipline, and trust in the unfolding process. Achieving a state of pure concentration and energetic alignment can often be the greatest challenge of all. The energy, intention, and consciousness brought to the work inevitably become part of the finished piece, flowing through the hands of the sculptor and into the stone itself.

For this reason, it is essential to approach the craft with clarity, sincerity, and wholehearted presence. The sculptor becomes a steward of both vision and material, working in partnership with a substance that has been shaped by the Earth over millions of years. In honouring the stone, we honour the ancient story it carries—a timeless treasure born from the depths of nature itself.
