Carving Process
Marriage of artistry with craftsmanship, begins with carefully selecting the correct stone, colour choice and unique features; has the stone got external or internal fractures that could present problems. Meticulously planning the proportions and details before transitioning to the chiselling phase. This stage requires significant physical strength and precision, as I chip away at the stone to reveal the form hidden within, I tend to use as much of the stone as possible. Each monument is a journey, test and passage of honouring the earth beneath our feet. Through trail and error and self discovery, absolute focus and devotion bringing visualisations to life. The timeline of cutting shaping carving can bring many challenges, extreme patients is required, to obtain the pure focus and energetic connection into a state of creative mediation and flow can be a massive challenge. And your state of mind and energy inevitably flows into what your hands are sculpting, thus it’s very important to have the purest intentions and have absolute presence in control of what your vision wants to create.
